Coach Wacker

Coach Louis Wacker

Coach Wacker was born and raised near Williamsburg, VA.  His family would often take trips to Williamsburg, where he enjoyed the historical architecture.  He became interested in the colonial American-styled furniture in many businesses and homes.

Coach is married and has three children – two girls and one son.  Developing a hobby of building Colonial American-styled furniture using pine wood, he visits

Williamsburg to study designs, sketch the piece of furniture, and build it.  He became a skilled craftsman of this furniture, and his house is decorated throughout with his beautiful handiwork.

Life as a Coach

As a child, he played football and developed a deep love of the game, which continued throughout his lifetime.  He became the Assistant football coach at Hampden-Sydney College and eventually Head coach.  He is nicknamed – “Coach,” – and he is continued to be known as “Coach.”

After 21 years of coaching at Hampden-Sydney College, he transferred to the Abingdon area. He was a very successful coach and spent 23 years at Emory and Henry, where he was inducted into the Emory & Henry and Hampden-Sydney College Hall of Fame.

Coach Wacker stated that “coaching is your life” as he was responsible for recruiting the football players, prepare & work with the players. He is one of the longest-tenured coaches in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, where he was inducted into the VA Sports Hall of Fame in 2014.   He has influenced the lives of many students and instilled in them the importance of education.

We are delighted to have Coach Wacker with us as he continues his rehab and prepares to return home.
