Coronavirus: Center Mitigation Efforts

Patient and Resident safety is a priority.

Our center is taking steps to keep our patients and employees safe in cooperation with our managing and consulting company, Commonwealth Care of Roanoke, Inc.

We have a designated center Infection Preventionist and access to increased clinical support through consulting nurses, medical directors, and nurse practitioners.  We have existing plans for handling infectious diseases and have worked from those as a roadmap in handling this national crisis.

Protocols have been developed and will be modified as needed to keep the COVID-19 virus out of our centers, and if it is found in the center, to minimize the spread to anyone else.

  • We have no visitation in our centers other than in end-of-life situations. We will facilitate communication between you and your loved one by phone or the use of virtual technology as you request.
  • All employees are screened prior to the beginning of their shifts and authorized outside vendors are screened prior to entry to the center using a screening log and an attestation that the individual has not been out of the country, come in contact with someone that has tested positive for COVID-19 or has symptoms of respiratory illness.
  • Employees and authorized vendors are documenting their temperatures prior to entering the center and vendors are recording a time in & time out of the center.
  • We are still admitting patients to our center. All new patients are being screened for symptoms of respiratory illness, and we are working closely with hospitals to help ensure we are not admitting a patient with respiratory symptoms or that is positive for COVID-19.
  • Our company is monitoring CDC and State Department of Health recommendations and practicing recommended infection control protocols
  • Our company has organized a COVID-19 Task Force that is meeting regularly and conducting daily calls with centers to discuss best practices and updating recommendations for the center or the surrounding community.
  • We are working daily in tandem with hospital partners, local health departments, and state agencies to ensure the safety of all involved.
